IxDA is an international organization dedicated to the professional practice of Interaction Design with more than 20,000 members and over 80 local chapters around the world. In Europe, we see a fast growing number of members joining our global IxDA community as new local chapters spawn all across the region. On this page we’d like to introduce you to IxDA in Europe and hope to ignite and inspire your passion for Interaction Design.
Interaction Design (IxD) defines the structure and behavior of interactive systems. Interaction Designers strive to create meaningful relationships between people and products and services that they use, from computers to mobile devices and beyond. Our practices are evolving with the world.
The annual IxDA Interaction Awards celebrate global excellence in the discipline of Interaction Design. The competition winners will be awarded during a ceremony at the Interaction conference.

We believe that the human condition is increasingly challenged by poor experiences. IxDA intends to improve the human condition by advancing the discipline of Interaction Design. To do this, we foster a community of people that come together to support this intention. IxDA relies on individual initiative, sharing and self-organization as the primary means for us to achieve our goals.
Throughout Europe, the dialogue on Interaction Design in academia and business is pursued from many different angles, nurtured by the region’s great diversity of national identities and socio-economic conditions. To allow IxDA to effectively utilize those kinds of regional premises, the global organization has assigned Coordinators for the worlds main geographical areas. In Europe, the Regional Coordination promotes to embrace the areas diversity and encourages cross-national collaboration amongst its chapters to facilitate a broad and manifold dialogue on Interaction Design.
Introduce Interaction Design and IxDA local activities to a greater audience in Europe – to increase awareness as well as to encourage participation and contribution.
Foster pan-European alliances and partner-ships with associations, academic institutions, and businesses to help further our mission in Europe and to support local activities.
Specify and build optimal in- and outbound touch-points for current and prospective chapter-leaders, volunteers and supporters in the region to optimize effectiveness.
